I had mixed feelings about my stay at Hotel Okura Sapporo. While the location was fantastic and the staff's service was genuinely warm and helpful, the room's comfort and amenities fell short of expectations. The hard mattress and lack of basic toiletries left something to be desired. Overall, I enjoyed my time but felt there were definitely areas for improvement. 😊

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and clean with comfortable beds, but the mattress was uncomfortably hard and had poor-quality pillows. I also noticed a lingering smell of smoke, which added to my discomfort.
Service
9.0
The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Housekeeping and the bellhops went out of their way to assist, contributing positively to my experience.
Location
10.0
The hotel's location was excellent—just a block from Odori Park and close to shopping and restaurants. Everything I wanted to explore in Sapporo was within walking distance.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast options were good, offering either a Western buffet or a traditional Japanese meal. However, I wish both styles were combined to enjoy a bit of everything at once.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities like dry cleaning and laundry were available, but I noticed some basic amenities like body lotion were lacking. The parking situation was unclear, as I ended up using a public lot across the street at an extra cost.

I had a mixed experience at Hotel Okura Sapporo. While the central location and spacious room were highlights, my checkout experience left a bad taste. I encountered some service issues, which overshadowed the positive aspects of my stay.

Rooms
5.0
The room was spacious and well-appointed, including a comfortable bed and good amenities like a coffee machine. However, I did notice that the rooms are a bit dated. The smokey smell was quite off-putting, diminishing the overall comfort.
Service
5.0
Most staff were polite, but my checkout experience was disappointing. The front desk staff seemed unhelpful and not equipped to handle English-speaking guests effectively. Their demeanor made the process more stressful than it needed to be.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location is a definite plus. It's just two blocks from Odori Park and very close to shopping areas and restaurants, making it easy to explore the city.
Dining
5.0
I didn't try breakfast, but I've heard good things about the buffet. However, I did visit the basement restaurant twice, and I found the dining experience to be overpriced and not quite worth it.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel offers essential facilities like laundry and dry cleaning, but I didn't make use of them during my stay.

6.8/10

I had mixed feelings about my stay at Hotel Okura Sapporo. The location was ideal, right near Odori Park and various shopping areas; however, the facilities didn’t quite meet my expectations for a hotel with such a prestigious name. While the staff were generally friendly and attentive, the overall experience felt more like a budget option rather than a luxury hotel, which left me disappointed.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were older than I expected, and while they were usually clean and spacious, some even smelled of cigarette smoke. I found the mattress too hard for my comfort, making sleep difficult.
Service
6.0
The staff were polite and helpful, including those who made dinner reservations for us in Japanese. But one staff member at check-out left me a bit frustrated with her communication style.
Location
8.0
The location is superb; just two blocks from Odori Park and the subway station, plus I could easily walk to major department stores and the vibrant Susukino nightlife area.
Dining
5.0
I only experienced the breakfast buffet, which could have been better if the Japanese and international options were combined. But the dining experience overall felt a bit inappropriate for foreigners.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel lacked some basic amenities, like body lotion, and the parking situation was confusing and misleading. There wasn’t enough space available for the number of cars they claim to accommodate.

However, the overall experience was marred by outdated facilities and some frustrating service encounters. While I appreciated the friendly staff, the condition of the rooms and amenities really fell short of my expectations given the price point.

My stay at Hotel Okura Sapporo was quite pleasant overall. The location was unbeatable, close to shopping and dining options, making it perfect for exploring Sapporo. However, the hotel itself is showing its age, with furnishings that feel dated and a bit worn out. While the spacious room provided comfort, I found some cleanliness issues that detracted from the experience.

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and a small sitting area. However, there were some stains on the bed sheets, and the room felt poorly ventilated due to only having a heating system.
Service
7.0
Service was excellent and attentive, with staff who were polite and communicative. However, I had trouble retrieving my One Harmony membership, which was frustrating and seemed out of place in such a technologically advanced environment.
Location
9.0
The location was fantastic, just a short walk from Odori Park and close to major shopping centers like Marui Imai and Mitsukoshi. Additionally, the nightlife of Susukino is merely a few blocks away, making it very convenient for a short trip.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast options at the hotel were good, offering both Western and Japanese choices. However, I wished they would combine both options in one setting to enhance variety. While the food was decent, I've had better at other Okura locations.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel offers essential facilities like dry cleaning and laundry, but the overall amenities felt limited and outdated, not matching the luxurious vibe one might expect.
